Contemporary urban glamor is the name of the game at brand-new Lighthouse Hotel Athens. This trendy hotel is set to feature everything from an underground nightclub to a rooftop with panoramic views and jacuzzi hot tubs.
Lighthouse Athens is turning up the heat.
A modern, upbeat hotel
“Work hard, play harder” is the ethos of Brown Hotels’ Lighthouse brand, an unapologetic approach reflected in every detail of this modern, upbeat property right on Omonia Square. From the elegant, yet eccentric, design aesthetic to the 220 stylish rooms and the lively, light-filled lobby, not to mention the soon-to-open nightclub and rooftop, this is not a hotel for wallflowers.
Standout features include the first-floor restaurant and bar offering all-day dining with views across Omonia Square, and an expansive rooftop with 360-degree panoramic views across the city. Opening officially on June 1st, the rooftop, which is one of the largest and most impressive of its kind in the Greek capital, will feature a pool, sun loungers, jacuzzi hot tubs, and an open-air bar and restaurant. There is also a wellness center and spa, and an events space—all of which are set to make Lighthouse Athens one of the city’s hottest hangouts for the fashionable modern traveler.

Innovative aesthetic
The design of Lighthouse Athens is the result of the collaborative creative vision of architectural firm Stavros Peppas Architects & Partners and art director Christine-Joanne Lamprou. The look and feel is inspired by the former glory of the area, when music and the theatrical life of the city was rooted in Omonia. The building, which formerly housed the Marika Kotopouli theater, and subsequently transformed into La Mirage Hotel, has been completely redesigned, merging original features with modern design concepts for an innovative aesthetic that blends raw and industrial elements with baroque touches and clean lines.
The eye-catching lobby boasts exposed concrete walls and black parquet flooring, marble furnishings, gold metal accents and plush, velvet furnishings, while the rooms showcase vintage wallpaper, mirrored walls, and chandeliers, with a palette of teal green, mauve, black and gold.

Cosy, Urban and Classic rooms
The rooms, which are divided into three categories, Cosy, Urban and Classic, all feature walk-in shower rooms, Nespresso machines, open wardrobes, slippers, bathrobes, premium mattresses and soft Egyptian bed linens.
Lighthouse Athens joins Brown Hotels’ growing portfolio of Greek properties as the fourth hotel to launch in Athens. Situated on Omonia Square, adjacent to Brown Hotels’ Brown Acropol and DAVE Red Athens, in addition to Marriott’s brand-new Moxy Athens City, the 220-room hotel brings contemporary design and glamor to a neighborhood that is otherwise perhaps best known for its grittiness.

From Tel Aviv to Athens
The first Lighthouse Hotel became an instant hit when it opened in Israel in 2019—a feat Leon Avigad, founder of Brown Hotels, hopes to emulate with the brand’s second outpost: “Following Brown Hotels’ successful entry into the Greek market, it felt like a natural next step to bring the Lighthouse brand to Athens,” he comments, adding: “Lighthouse Tel Aviv is our flagship property and a brand name that is synonymous with sleek design, magnificent rooftops and unrivaled nightlife concepts.”
Lighthouse Athens opened officially on April 1st, 2022.
