The new portion of the famous PS is now more accessible.
PS at LAX is one of the most exclusive spots in the world. No, it’s not a nightclub or fancy hotel, but rather a private lounge in Los Angeles airport reserved just for VIPs. It has its own security, customs clearance, luxury amenities, and back door access to your plane. But that elite hub just got a little more accessible with the new social space, The Salon at PS.
The Salon is a community space connected to the PS lounge with many similar amenities without the need to be a celebrity. For example, you get expedited semi-private TSA screening on departures, customs and immigration processing on international arrivals, and direct-to-aircraft transportation across the airfield before take-off. Inside, travelers have access to a full menu at the bar or in the outdoor garden.
Plus, unlike airport lounges typically only for departures, travelers can also use The Salon at PS after landing at LAX. Travelers are picked up from the plane and driven directly to The Salon, where they’re able to rest and have a drink as their bags are pulled off the aircraft for direct delivery.
“We started with the Private Suites as our offering because that met the most urgent need – privacy. For travelers who require privacy, the airport poses a security or health risk to them and disruption to all other travelers,” Co-CEO Amina Belouizdad told me. “However, we always knew we would expand our offerings to be more inclusive, and The Salon has been on our drawing board since day one. The onset of the pandemic further amplified the need for a crowd-free alternative airport, so we launched it in 2021.”
The key difference is that instead of private suites like those found at the original PS, The Salon is more of a social club atmosphere with spots to work and lounge among other fliers pre and post-flight. Other restrictions include no guests under 21 or pets while shower spas, checked luggage, and valet parking available are extra and upon request.
“Part private member’s club and part airport lounge, we believe The Salon is perfect for travelers seeking a more social experience that is still elevated, private, and secure,” said Belouizdad.
PS is the only private terminal for commercial flights in the United States until they open at JFK, MIA, and others. Internationally, VIP services exist, but they are all in-terminal and are more akin to an airport lounge than a private terminal. As a result, they lack all the conveniences PS offers like valet, spa services, expedited security screening, driving to and from the aircraft, etc. The only exception is Heathrow VIP which provides an almost comparable service.
“We pride ourselves on delivering a state-of-the-art VIP experience where every single PS Member is treated like a VIP,” said Belouizdad. “We believe we can deliver that same service to a larger audience that prefers a more social experience. Plus, we will always remain the most VIP way to fly commercial.”
As for price, member and non-member reservations for The Salon at PS are available at $695 per use per person. Meanwhile, pricing for the private suite option starts at $3,250 for a party of four.
