New England at Buffalo
No doubt New York is driving more betting interest towards Buffalo. The Bills are a very popular bet with both the spread and moneyline generating 75% of the handle at FanDuel Sportsbook. More money may snowball on the Bills ahead of kickoff.
“I think you’re going to see a lot of money on the Bills,” said John Sheeran, Director of Trading for FanDuel Sportsbook.
Johnny Avello, DraftKings Director of Sports Operations expects another huge handle from New York sports betting after the state’s launch last weekend produced an “amazing” handle and betting action with “numbers off the charts.”
The Bills-Patriots game “will be one of the biggest bet games, certainly for Saturday and maybe for the entire weekend,” Avello says. DraftKings is a legal and licensed US sports betting operator in 15 states and growing.
Bettors in New York are also confident in the Bills. Betting data adjusts throughout each day leading up to kickoff with even more bets Saturday. DraftKings now reports 65% of the spread handle (money bet) and 60% of the bets are on the Bills to cover the point spread. The moneyline on the Bills has risen to -220 (bet $22 to win $10) as 66% of moneyline bettors like the Bills to win while 34% prefer the Patriots (+180) to win the game ($10 to win $18).
“This game has been all over the place,” Avello said. “We opened the Bills -4.5 and went to -4 and as low as -3.5 before we got a big Patriots push. Now were back up to -4.5.”
More money keeps coming in under the total with 60% of the money supporting a lower scoring game. However, the DraftKings promotion is driving the total down to near temperature at kickoff (5 degrees) to make it an easy bet and winner over the total.
This Bills-Patriots game has been the most popular of the weekend’s playoff games, and drawn the highest percentage of handle at Caesars Sportsbook. Buffalo has generated 75% of the total number of tickets and 76% of the total dollars wagered – the most of any team this weekend.
“It’s interesting that Bills-Patriots is the spread with the biggest disparity, I wouldn’t have guessed that,” said Adam Pullen, Assistant Director of Trading at Caesars Sportsbook. “At the beginning of the season, the Bills were viewed as one of the top Super Bowl contenders, and they came on late in the season, including handling the Patriots in New England. It’s a small number for a team that has been expected to challenge for a Super Bowl all season long, whereas the Patriots haven’t had that as much.”
Two interesting futures bets came in at WynnBet by Julian Edelman. The former Patriots wide receiver is betting on coach Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady to reach the Super Bowl.
Edelman bet $50,000 on the Patriots (+750) to win the AFC for a potential return of $375,000. Edelman also bet $50,000 on the Buccaneers (+340) to win the NFC for a potential return of $170,000.
FanDuel Sportsbook is a legal and licensed US sports betting operator in 11 states and growing. FanDuel Sportsbook has already signed on as an official mobile sports betting partner of the Buffalo Bills. And if If you are braving the sub zero temperatures to attend the Buffalo Bills home game Saturday, FanDuel Sportsbook has you covered with Zippo electric hand warmers. The first 5,000 customers to show their FanDuel Sportsbook app on their phone (section 123) will receive a free electric hand warmer.
“The Bills take pride in being a culture that is built on genuine connection with their fans, and we are absurdly fan-focused at FanDuel, making this a natural collaboration,” said Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel Group. “As we prepare to bring America’s #1 sportsbook to New York state, we will collaborate with the Bills to bring unique content and experiences to one of the most loyal fanbases in sports.”
BetRivers is supporting sports betting in New York with a Bills boosted bet this weekend.
A win by the Bills combined with a Chiefs win over the Steelers Sunday will send Buffalo to Kansas City next weekend for the most anticipated game of the divisional round and a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game.
I’d put my $50 bucks on the Bills and double it up when Buffalo wins for New Yorkers.
You can bet on it.
