Following last Sunday’s 7-0 SU/ATS start for the early NFL games played in the U.S., bettors are anxious to support the favorites again as Week 7 kicks off. That includes on the week’s biggest favorite Arizona Cardinals, who were a late afternoon underdog winner last week at Cleveland.
The Cardinals (6-0) remain undefeated are a 17.5 point favorite hosting the Houston Texans, and the moneyline is -1800 on the Cardinals and +950 for the Texans, per odds at BetMGM. But Arizona has strong competition at the top of the NFC as four other teams have a 5-1 record – Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Rams are a 16.5 point home favorite over the winless Detroit Lions in Week 7.
Match-ups, injuries, stats and the betting line are key points in evaluating weekly NFL games. While it’s easy to dismiss the biggest ugly underdogs for most bettors, history shows they get the money more often than not. Double digit underdogs of more than 14 points are 43-28 ATS since 1980.
BetMGM provided some betting data on Week 7 games, and the Packers are the most popular team for bettors this week. Green Bay is an 8.5-point favorite over the no-name and troubled Washington Football Team. The moneyline shows Green Bay -400 (bet $400 to win $100) and Washington +310 (bet $100 to win $310).
The Raiders (-2.5) join the Packers as team taking the most money on point spread betting. I’ll be at the Eagles and Raiders game in Las Vegas in support of a higher-scoring Raiders win with BetMGM posting an over/under of 48.5 points.

The Sunday Night Football game has wind and rain in the forecast at San Francisco for the 49ers and Colts contest. It’s raining all day and into game time with the 49ers (-4) favored and the total dropping to 42.5 points.
The most popular picks in the Circa Sports NFL survivor contest are the Patriots (-7), Cardinals (-17.5), Rams (-16.5), Packers (-8.5) and Buccaneers (-12.5). Survivor is picking one team to advance by just winning the game.
A rare week with more underdogs popular picks in the Circa Millions NFL contest with the Patriots the only top 5 consensus pick joining the Bengals (+6.5), Titans (+4.5), Eagles (+3) and Colts (+4). Still, heavy chalk and favorites are drawing plenty of action again in spread and moneyline betting, although that’s not the way to profit longterm in the NFL.
You can bet on it.
