It was late at night in Manila and early morning EST when a call to Kate Hudson was made. Despite the hour, the 42-year-old actress was bright and cheery. Even over the phone, one could sense that the Golden Globe awardee had been living fully, especially in the past months. “I love a good beauty story,” she exclaimed and joked, “I should be a beauty blogger.” It has been 15 years since Kate made that shift towards clean beauty, and the journey has revealed more reasons to live in high frequency.
Since October, Kate has been spending more time in the studio. She disclosed that realizations following the pandemic prompted her to pursue passions that have long been sitting on the shelf. “I decided, I’m finally gonna do it,” said the actress who brought Penny Lane to life in the 2000 hit film, Almost Famous. “I’ve always loved music. During COVID, the fragility of life dawned on me and I began to question: What am I doing?” It was then that Kate began working on her music and “doing things that make people feel good.”
Slowly Shifting To Clean Beauty
It was also around the same time that Kate began working with Juice Beauty Founder Karen Behnke to create a clean beauty product that “makes things better.” She remembers, “Karen was instrumental in my entry into the clean beauty space. After our first meeting, I immediately began detoxing my beauty shelf.” The shift was gradual, recalls the actress, and it opened her eyes to an entire world of honest-to-goodness, earth-sourced ingredients.
“When I began my clean beauty journey, I started by looking at the ingredients. I’m not an extremist. So I started with the basics, avoiding products with parabens and other toxic chemicals.” shared Kate. Products from Juice Beauty became her go-to for organic skincare formulations that deliver on the promise. “I noticed better results on my skin,” she observed. In choosing clean products, Kate held a preference for oil-based cleansers and hydrators. She also began exploring serums, mixing them into skin cocktails to suit her needs.
It was only a matter of time before Kate would also launched her own clean hairline range. “It didn’t pan out as it could have,” she remarks. In 2021, Kate also revealed a new line of plant-based supplements called InBloom. “I’ve always believed in eating healthy, replenishing the body, and receiving good things from the earth,” declared the wellness enthusiast and proponent of self care.
A Collaboration With A Clean Beauty Pioneer
Since Karen and Kate met minds 15 years ago, the two have bonded over a shared passion for wellness, environmentalism, and clean beauty. It has been a long time coming to see the birth for Kate Hudson X Juice Beauty’s Revitalizing Acacia and Rose Powder Mask. Kate enthuses, “It’s exciting to finally be able to create this product together–and not just another mask. It’s exceptional and you can see the results instantly.”
Natural ingredients like antioxidant rich Acacia Powder, Rose Petal Phyto Pigment Powder, Organic Aloe, Organic Olive Leaf are handpicked to deliver optimum results. Kate, who has partnered with Juice Beauty in the creation of the brand’s cocktail concentrates adds, “Depending on what my skin needs that day, I like to add a few drops of concentrate to my mask for hydration.”
The Revitalizing Acacia and Rose Powder Mask is customizable such that users can create the consistency that suits them best. As an artist constantly on-the-go, Kate shared that this formula has made packing beauty essentials in her carry on easier. “I don’t check my luggage so having it in power form makes it more convenient. The formula was also specifically created so that it clarifies and hydrates at the same time. The clinicals are amazing!”
With TV, movie and red carpet appearances filling most of her days, Kate shares an insider beauty tip for staying perpetually camera-ready: “On days when I need a pick me up, I apply a thin layer of the mask and leave it for three to five minutes. Rinse, then apply serum and makeup.”
Summer Beauty Tips From a Summer Goddess
Admittedly, Kate is a summer person. “I love the energy of the sun,” she professes. “There is always something about summer that makes me giddy. It’s the time when I recharge and break free.” For the past 15 years, Kate has been spending her summers in Greece. “It’s a place where I feel connected.”
Her regimen, is anchored on self love and feeling good about one’s self. “Eat healthy, hydrate often,” prescribes the ageless actor. She also carves out time for infrared sauna sessions, cold plunging, and Ayurvedic inspired dry brushing. “It’s always about connecting with yourself, feeling good and strong,” she emphasized.
