During the Covid-19 pandemic, Hilton Honors replaced its breakfast benefit for Gold and Diamond elite status members at U.S. hotels to come in the form of a food and beverage credit instead. With many hotel restaurants closed or operating at modified hours due to local regulations, staffing shortages and other pandemic-related issues, this provided members more flexibility while also placating hotel owners.
The food and beverage credit amount varies by brand, but can be used for more than just breakfast. This represents an improvement for those that prefer something other than breakfast, but for those that do, the credit does not always cover the full cost.
While initially a temporary move through the end of 2021, Hilton Honors has announced that it will extend the food and beverage credit program through 2022. It is also making an improvement at many hotels that will increase the amount of the credit to better align with prices in certain markets.

The credit is available for up to two members per eligible guest room (this means that the amount can be doubled). At luxury brands, the amount is $25 per person while at lifestyle and full-service brands, like Hilton and Curio Collection by Hilton, the amount is now $12 per person. Hilton Garden Inn guests who hold elite status receive a $10 credit.
In select markets, these amounts will be $3 higher to cover local pricing levels. These “high-cost markets” include cities like Boston, the District of Columbia, Key West, Hawaii, Los Angeles (countywide) and New York City among others.

The new rates will go into effect Feb. 1, 2022 for elite-status guests. Hilton Honors has also extended elite status for its members, which means whatever status level members have this year will last through March 31, 2023.
The change gives members more flexibility for how they use the credit, but for those that want to start their day with a full breakfast, these credits represent a slight downgrade. Other members will find this to be a positive move since they can use the credit for any food and beverage option at a hotel during their stay. Hilton Honors Diamond members will also receive 1,000 bonus points in addition to the food and beverage credit (except Hilton Garden Inn where they must choose between the credit or 750 points).
