Celine Unveils Its Baie Des Anges Collection, And Includes New Campaign Images For Its Haute Parfumerie Scents + Releases A New Travel Spray

Hedi Slimane isn’t just a fashion designer, he’s a creative of many fronts. Slimane, Celine’s creative director for fashion filmed and directed the house’s cruise collection named Baie des Anges, on the Promenades des Anglais that was unveiled today. And Blackpink’s Lalisa Manobal, the Thai rapper did her first fashion show debut.

The Centenarian Palace Le Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais, was created by Henri Alexandre Negrescu and Dutch architect Edouard-Jean Niermans. Opened since 1913 it’s a symbol of the Belle Époque era and neo-classical movement that happened on the French Riviera. The Hotel Negresco was a meeting point for politicians, royalty, and artists in the 20^th century.

Instantly as the digital presentation of the show began, shots of the south of France Mediterranean coastline appeared, making us all want summer 2022 to come when Christmas hasn’t even gotten here yet. The collection is oh-so Slimane with a strong summer sensibility to it. While slim jeans are falling out of trend, Slimane paired loose jeans with a pussy bow white blouse and yellow faux fur sweater; and another look of loose jeans with a trench stands out. Fitted short day dresses are paired with leather jackets, and leather pants are fitted with leather light coats.

Smart work wear looks of blazers with buttoned-down blouses and pants are seen. Camouflage jackets and pants are in the collection. And the kicker, a shimmery inspired sweat-pant set in army green resembles a hoodie and pants with ankle cuff is an eye-catching creation. Light textiles for summer coast holidays fill the collection with a range of color palettes from yellows, to creams, blacks, green, shimmery golds denims, and leather make up “Promenades des Anglais.”

And then the evening wear from the long black skirt piece with a thigh-high slit skirt paired with a long black blazer. Shimmery shades of gold spaghetti strapped evening party dresses are mixed throughout as models walked to the soundtrack by Vitamin C, performed by Can.

Manobal strutted the Astronomical Observatory at the top of Mont-Gros that has been in use since 1875 in a green varsity jacket and gray hoodie with “Celine Paris” on the back, while wearing jeans, and carrying a highlighter yellow bag with interlocking C’s and sunglasses. Through the digital presentation she was shown in short clips of her face in black and white color grading as she moved about. The singer who is an LVMH (Moët-Hennessy Louis Vuitton) ambassador, is also the face of Celine’s haute parfumerie collection, also by Slimane. Slimane photographed her in a black and white image on a staircase for the campaign- gosh is there anything he can’t do?

The Haute Parfumerie Collection

Nine of the eleven perfumes from the collection are out and created by Slimane, author of The Private Collection of Perfumes Maison Christian Dior in 2004. Taking the savoir faire from French perfumery, Slimane has created masculine and feminine fragrances. According to house notes: “by questioning for over more than 20 years the societal notion of gender in his collections and photographs, Hedi Slimane is closely and culturally associated with the advent of a masculine-feminine style in both fashion and photography and, more particularly, with an androgynous definition of masculinity.”

The day fragrances are: Parade; Saint-Germain-des-Prés; Dans Paris; Cologne Française; La Peau Nue; and Eau de Californie. And evening fragrances: Black Tie; Reptile; and Nightclubbing, includes the notes of a smoky bar and liquor. Slimane has been able to blend together modern and high luxury fragrances.

Haute Parfumerie Voyage Travel Spray

Refillable, users of the spray can change the scent over and over. The fragrances are from the nine haute parfumerie scents, available in 15ML bottles for $216. A type of Parisian couture accessory, according to house notes, “it’s faceted design echoes the perfume bottle and is inspired by French style classicism at the end of the 17^th century and the distinctive minimalism of art deco.”
