With winter 2022 in full swing, it’s the perfect time to order some skiwear and hit the slopes. German brand Bogner’s AW21 collection is all about city inspired skiwear
German brand Bogner is more than a ski brand. It has an inclusive meaning behind it driven by a woman to fill a void in women’s skiwear. In 1932 during the German championship, its founder Willy Bogner’s wife Maria, wanted to do something about there not being any fashionable skiwear for women. She designed and sewed the first in the boot ski pants, signifying Bogner’s birth.
In the height of ski season, the autumn-winter 2021 collection, themed Alpine Touring is all about going from the city to the mountains. The collection fits in line with the brand’s rustic looks, while creating fashionable items for strolling through town with its cozy ensembles. And, according to the brand, “for those who hit the slopes, the looks are stylish yet functional.”
The womenswear part of the collection includes a color palette of camel tones and light gray, mixed with light mauve, and accents of navy and neon pink. These tones add color to the ski runway (aka the slopes) as women glide down. Some pieces can be worn for the indoors like the double-faced shirt jacket that can also be worn as a light outer layer. The fabrics used range from silk-wool jersey for underlayers, as well as silk-cashmere and lambswool for cozy knitwear and wool for pants, and long shirt dresses. Signature Bogner looks are seen in the quilted indoor jacket and skirt.
The women’s sport looks are inspired by the 70s’ and 80s’ with many of the looks mirrored after these decades. With bright color mixed in, the down puffer and technical jackets include the DSV team branding. The collection also includes accessories with the Bogner license from shoes, bags, eyewear, and gloves.
For the men, there are also shades of camel juxtaposed with burgundy, navy, and gray mélange. For all autumn and winter pieces the house has created lightweight and ready-to-wear looks made from natural materials. Teddy and shearling are used in the hoods. Some of the pieces are made to match complementary looks. “For a look that distills Alpine Elegance, take a short Bogner Jacket in wool check patched with Limonta nylon, and combine it with pleated pants in tech wool.”
The sport looks for men include masculine colors of various shades of blues, mixed with ivory, gray and black on tech wool and bicolor fabrics. Super-sportive colors from bright-sky, neon red, and white on technical jackets include the DSV team pieces in various ranges of insulation weights mix up the athletic looks in the collection.
