WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is making a second attempt to end the Remain-in-Mexico program in the face of a court ruling ordering the government to restart the Trump-era border policy.
The program requires migrants seeking asylum to live in Mexico while their claims for protection in the U.S. are considered. A federal court in Texas ruled in August that the administration’s first attempt to end the program was improper because it failed to take into account the program’s potential benefits. The court ordered the administration to revive the program, a decision the Supreme Court declined to block.
