The most important meal of the day will soon be served at a Marriott hotel near you.
Depending on who you ask, one of the biggest perks that used to come with staying at a nice hotel was often as simple as complimentary breakfast. Who doesn’t love the idea of rolling out of bed and walking downstairs to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and a smorgasbord of bacon, eggs and fruit salad — completely free of charge.
Hotel breakfast buffet’s were among the first of many hotel perks to face the chopping block due to health and safety concerns as a result of the pandemic, however starting in October, Marriott just announced that they will be bringing a new and improved hot and totally complimentary breakfast back to a hotel near you.
“Breakfast has long been a celebrated experience during a hotel stay – a moment to gather before exploring a destination or a reliable grab-and-go kickstart to the day,” Diane Mayer, Vice President & Global Brand Manager for Classic Select Brands said in a statement Thursday. “Through extensive consumer insights, we recognize that our guests want to wake up to a nutritious and energizing breakfast made with quality ingredients. We are pleased to introduce our new complimentary breakfast that offers mouthwatering, customizable options with an eye towards sustainability.”
According to an announcement, the four brands within the Marriott portfolio that will be included in the nationwide breakfast rollout are Residence Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.
In a survey of more than 800 travelers, Marriott found that 75% of guests said they preferred a hot breakfast buffet over continental breakfast options. Based on the data, 67% of guests rank availability of ‘special diet options’ as being extremely important and a majority 72% in the study said they feel comfortable eating at a buffet again. Research also shows that among the most important breakfast item is fresh coffee or tea, followed by hot food offerings.
Among a few of the “refreshed” breakfast items Marriott will be introducing are a fully customizable breakfast sandwich with a range of toppings, spinach and cheese crustless quiche, sausage, egg and cheese on a whole-wheat bagel and a jalapeno cheddar baked soufflé as well as an assortment of fresh fruit and even some gluten-free options for guests with dietary restrictions.
Of course, no Marriott breakfast would be complete without coffee, and you can also expect the brands deeply aromatic, bespoke-branded Rainforest Certified Coffee™ to be on offer as well.
The complimentary hot breakfast buffet will launch in October in a select number of hotels and is expected to be widely rolled out across nearly 3,000 hotels throughout the winter, according to Marriott.
So rest easy, Marriott Bonvoy members, and get ready to grab those breakfast tongs. Just make sure to wipe them down afterwards.
