Outfits made from recycled waste in epic Cap-Haïtien ‘Trashion Show’ | PHOTOS

Photos from the second version of Trashion Present, a style occasion held to advertise recycling and sanitation in Cap-Haïtien.

CAP-HAÏTIEN — What was as soon as trash — which Cap-Haïtien is usually closely criticized for — was style in entrance of the Notre-Dame Cathedral beneath the celebrities of a windy night on the northern capital on Aug. 10.

Plastic bottle caps, sometimes discovered on the roads, shaped the highest of a bit woman’s costume. The gang cheered because the woman walked down the runway. The underside of her costume was fairly nostalgic, made out of paper covers of elementary books like “Youpi! Je sais lire (Yay! I can learn)” and “Wi mwen konn li (Sure I can learn).” She wore sneakers made out of Lays chip baggage. Native designer Daïka Maxime created the outfit.

The second version of Trashion Present was really excellent, and it carried a strong message. It urged the town to recycle and put effort into maintaining the streets clear because it fights a critical trash drawback.

“We are able to generate profits with them,” Junior Simpliste, one of many designers whose assortment was on show, stated because the present was in full swing. 

“We are able to rework them. Let’s use trash to provide the town of Cap-Haïtien one other title. You may make garments and sandals with what you’re throwing away.”

The style present featured 4 collections from 4 completely different designers: Maxime, Simpliste, Nehemie Fanette and Youseline Bell.

Poubèl Ayiti (Haiti Trash Can), a creative environmental motion, collaborated with Household Artwork Company, a style and dance group, to host the occasion. About 100 residents attended, and it served because the finale of Household Artwork Company’s Okap a la Mode, a five-day downtown occasion that includes singing performances, style, and dance courses.

From clothes fabricated from recycled plastic baggage to elegant outfits, and from the crimson carpet that previewed the style occasion, listed below are some photos of the Trashion Present.
